This workshop is aimed primarily at students who want to feel more confident in professional and personal small talk situations and build relationships with others more easily. 

Aims of the workshop: 

  • Encouraging and starting conversation with anyone 
  • Aspects of communication that make people seek you out 
  • Discover the best way to present yourself 

Workshop content: 

  • What is small talk? 
  • The importance of active listening 
  • Small talk strategies 
  • Small talk topics and taboos 
  • Making small talk with confidence 
  • The elevator pitch 
  • Handling difficult conversations 
  • Cultural sensitivity in communication 
  • Body language and charisma 
  • Role plays, group discussion and feedback seession
